2nd Special Course for Diplomats from the League of Arab States

The 2nd Special Course for Diplomats from the League of Arab States (LAS) is being held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) from 23 Aug – 1 Sep 2023. Twenty-one diplomats from seven Member States of LAS are participating in this course. These are from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, Somalia, and Palestine.

The Special Course was inaugurated on 23 August 2023 by Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Secretary (CPV) & OIA and Shri Gaddam Dharmendra, Dean (SSIFS) in the presence of LAS Ambassador to India, H.E. Mr. Yusuf Mohamed Jameel.  A warm welcome was extended to the participants.

India has traditionally enjoyed close and friendly relations with the Arab World dating back to ancient times. A shared cultural heritage through the linkages to language and religion continues to lend energy to these historic bonds.

The training programme has been designed in close consultation with LAS Mission in New Delhi and includes modules on global issues,  bilateral relations, India’s Foreign Policy; Contribution of Indian Presidency to G20; Space; Climate Change and Mission LiFE; PM Gatishakti – Infra planning;  and Sessions on Ayurveda; Yoga; and Indian Heritage and Civilisation. As part of field visits, the diplomats would be visiting International Solar Alliance Secretariat; PHD Chamber of Commerce; Rashtrapati Bhavan; Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya; Agra and Akshardham Temple.
