2nd Special Training Programme on ‘Economic & Commercial Diplomacy’ for IAS and other officers from States and UTs of India


The Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), in association with the States Division of Ministry of External Affairs, is conducting the second special training programme on ‘Economic & Commercial Diplomacy’ for IAS and other officers from States and Union Territories of India from 8-12 February 2021 at SSIFS. Seventeen officers from  States/UTs are participating in the programme.

Hon’ble Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India has described the States and UTs as integral partners in India’s international engagement.  The programme’s “carefully designed content is aimed at inculcating among our State and UT officials, the necessary awareness, knowledge and skills to deal with the world. At the end of the day, it is in their domains that global cooperation will find practical manifestation.”

The week-long second special programme has been designed with focus on promotion and facilitation of international trade, foreign investment, joint ventures,  technology, education, tourism etc. relevant for States and Union Territories. It will provide an overview of international relations and cover diaspora, health, education and protocol matters. During the Course, the participants will interact with senior officers from various Ministries/Departments, resident foreign Ambassadors in Delhi, retired diplomats, academics, chambers of commerce/export promotion councils, development cooperation agencies, tour operators and resident commissioners of States /UTs in Delhi.
