2nd Special Course for Sudanese Diplomats

The 2nd Special Course for Sudanese diplomats is being held at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India on 25 February 2019 to 09 March 2019. 46 young diplomats from Sudan are participating. The Special Course was inaugurated at FSI on 25 February 2019. Amb. J.S. Mukul, Dean (FSI) also hosted a welcome reception for the Sudanese diplomats.

Amb. T.S. Tirumurti, Secretary (ER), Ministry of External Affairs of India and other senior officers of the Ministry would address the Sudanese diplomats as part of the training programme. The Special Course would include modules on India’s foreign policy, key international issues, multilateral diplomacy and diplomatic skills. The Sudanese diplomats would also get an exposure to India’s economic and technological development and undertake study tours to experience the rich cultural heritage of India.

By way of background, the 1st Special Course for 19 Sudanese Diplomats was successfully held at the FSI from 26 September to 22 October, 2005. To date, 41 Sudanese diplomats have participated in FSI training programmes for foreign diplomats.

India and Sudan enjoy strong bilateral relations that go back in history to the time of the Nilotic and Indus Valley Civilization. The Special Course will further strengthen India’s friendly ties with Sudan.
