PRESS RELEASE

H.E. Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of The Gambia visited the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the Ministry of External Affairs on 8 March 2019 during his visit to India from 4-7 March 2019 to celebrate the 54th Independence Day of The Gambia and the 10th Anniversary of establishment of the Gambian High Commission in India.

H.E. Dr. Mamadou Tangara was welcomed by Amb. J.S. Mukul, Dean (FSI) who briefed him on FSI and its training programmes. Amb. Mukul mentioned that till date, 26 diplomats from The Gambia have participated in various training programmes at FSI. A Special Course for Gambian diplomats was conducted at FSI from 20 June to 20 July 2018.

A day earlier, on 7 March 2019, an MoU between FSI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of The Gambia was signed in the presence of Hon’ble Smt. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India and H.E. Dr. Mamadou Tangara. The MoU was signed by Amb. Mukul and the High Commissioner of The Gambia to India, H.E. Ms. Jainaba Jagne. During the meeting at FSI on 8 March, H.E. Dr. Mamadou Tangara and Amb. Mukul discussed strengthening of cooperation between the two sides within the framework of the MoU.
