The 1st Special Course for Senegalese diplomats is being held at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India on 15-27 April 2019. 10 young diplomats from Senegal are participating. The Special Course was inaugurated at FSI on 15 April 2019. Amb. J.S. Mukul, Dean (FSI) also hosted a welcome reception for the Senegalese diplomats.
Amb. T.S. Tirumurti, Secretary (ER), Ministry of External Affairs of India and other senior officers of the Ministry would address the Senegalese diplomats as part of the training programme. The Special Course would include modules on India’s foreign policy, key international issues, multilateral diplomacy and diplomatic skills. The Senegalese diplomats would also get an exposure to India’s economic and technological development and undertake study tours to experience the rich cultural heritage of India.
To date, 7 Senegalese diplomats have participated in FSI training programmes for foreign diplomats.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established at Ambassadorial level in 1962, with a resident Indian Mission in Dakar. Both India and Senegal enjoy warm and friendly bilateral relations sharing common values of democracy, development and secularism. This Special Course will further strengthen India’s friendly ties with Senegal.
