Visit of Delegation from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Malawi to FSI

A seven-member delegation from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Malawi visited the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India on 20 August 2019.

Amb J.S. Mukul, Dean (FSI) briefed the delegation on the activities of FSI. He apprised the delegation about the training programmes conducted by FSI for Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Officers and personnel of MEA and other ministries. He gave a detailed briefing on training programmes conducted by FSI for foreign diplomats as a part of India’s development partnership in the spirit of South-South Cooperation.

Dean (FSI) noted that 3000 diplomats from over 180 countries have participated in FSI’s training programmes. So far, nine (09) diplomats from Malawi have attended various Courses at FSI.

Relations between India and Malawi are cordial and friendly. The two countries hold identical views on many regional, international and multilateral issues. India established diplomatic ties with Malawi in 1964, the year when Malawi gained its independence.

The visit of the Malawi delegation is another step towards strengthening of bilateral ties between India and Malawi.
