3rd Special Course of Diplomats from Iraq

The 3rd Special Course for diplomats from Iraq is being held at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India on 26 August -07 September 2019. 30 diplomats from Iraq are participating in the Course.  The Special Course was inaugurated at FSI on 25 August 2019. Amb. Rahul Shrivastava, JS (FSI) also hosted a welcome reception for the diplomats from Iraq.

Amb. T.S. Tirumurti, Secretary (ER), Ministry of External Affairs of India and other senior officers of the Ministry would address the diplomats from Iraq as part of the training programme. The Special Course would include modules on India’s foreign policy, key international issues, multilateral diplomacy and diplomatic skills. The diplomats from Iraq would also get an exposure to India’s economic and technological development and undertake study tours to experience the rich cultural heritage of India.

To date, 59 diplomats from Iraq have participated in FSI training programmes for foreign diplomats.

India and Iraq have always enjoyed enduring political, economic and cultural ties. India supports a free, democratic, pluralistic, federal and unified Iraq. India has responded to the urgent needs of Iraq for relief and economic reconstruction directly and as part of international efforts under the UN auspices. Training of Iraqi Foreign Service officers in diplomacy is a part of these activities. This Special Course will further strengthen India’s friendly ties with Iraq.
