1st Special Course for Diplomats from Dominican Republic

The 1st Special Course for diplomats from the Dominican Republic is being held at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India from 28 October – 09 November 2019. 8 Diplomats from the Dominican Republic are participating in the Course.

Amb. J.S. Mukul, Dean (FSI) hosted a welcome reception for the participating diplomats on 28th October 2019.The intensive two-week course would include  training modules on various topics covering India’s foreign policy, key international issues, multilateral diplomacy and diplomatic skills. The participants would get an exposure to modern India’s economic and technological developments. They would also undertake study tours to experience the rich cultural heritage of India.

To date, 4 diplomats from the Dominican Republic have participated in FSI training programmes for foreign diplomats.

Diplomatic relations between India and Dominican Republic were established in May, 1999. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in May 2001 in Santo Domingo to hold regular Foreign Office consultations. India and the Dominican Republic have friendly bilateral relations which continue to deepen in all spheres. FSI signed an MoU with Dominican Republic on 03 October 2017. The special course will further deepen India-Dominican Republic relations.
