Dr. Xu Jian, President of the China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) visited the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Ministry of External Affairs on 11 November 2019. He was accompanied by Dr. Wu Xiaoping, Director, Foreign Affairs Office of CFAU and diplomats from the Embassy of China in New Delhi.
Amb. J.S. Mukul, Dean (FSI) welcomed Dr. Xu Jian and Dr. Wu Xiaoping and briefed them about FSI and its training programmes. He mentioned that over 3000 diplomats from over 185 countries, including from China, have participated in FSI’s training programmes. Dr. Xu Jian and Dr. Wu Xiaoping were also given a tour of FSI facilities. Amb. Mukul hosted a lunch in honour of Dr. Xu Jian.
FSI and CFAU are signatories of the MoU amongst BRICS countries for cooperation in diplomatic training. Amb. Mukul and Dr. Xu Jian discussed steps to strengthen cooperation between the two sides.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Xu Jian addressed the Afghan diplomats at the inaugural session of the 2nd India-China Joint Capacity Building Programme for Diplomats from Afghanistan.
