4th Special Course for Diplomats from Iraq

The 4th Special Course for Iraqi diplomats is being held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service  (SSIFS) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India from 24 February-07 March 2020. 11 young diplomats from Iraq are participating.

The Special Course was inaugurated at SSIFS on 24 February 2020. On 23 February, Amb. J.S. Mukul, Dean (SSIFS) hosted a welcome reception for the Iraqi diplomats. Secretary (CPV & OIA), Ministry of External Affairs of India and other senior officers of the Ministry will address the Iraqi diplomats as part of the training programme.

The Special Course would include modules on India’s foreign policy, key international issues, multilateral diplomacy and diplomatic skills. The Iraqi diplomats would also get an exposure to India’s economic and technological development and undertake study tours to experience the rich cultural heritage of India.

To date, 89 Iraqi diplomats have participated in SSIFS training programmes for foreign diplomats. India and Iraq enjoy friendly political relations based on historic and civilizational ties. The Special Course will further strengthen India’s friendly ties with Iraq.
