2nd Special Course for Global South Young Diplomats Forum
The two – week Global South Young Diplomats Forum has commenced on 9 September at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. Thirty two young diplomats representing various countries in the Global South are participating in this course. [These are from Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Brazil Camerron, Costa Rica, Dominica, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Grenada, Iraq, Kiribati, Libya, Mali, Marshall Islands, Namibia, Panama, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Somalia, South Africa, Suriname, Syrian Arab republic, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Vietnam.]
The Global South Young Diplomats Forum (GSYDF) was launched by the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) in November 2023 in line with the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for bringing synergy in the voice of Global South.
The Forum envisages deliberations and knowledge sharing among the participants on topics and priority areas of importance to Global South. The Forum will have modules on Global Geo-Political Landscape, Economic & Multilateral Diplomacy, AI and Emerging Technologies, globalization of supply chains, SDGs, Climate Change and Renewable Energy, Digital Public Infrastructure, Master Plan for Multimodal connectivity, food security, natural farming, disaster management, role of technology in enhancing access to medical care, etc.
Sessions on Ayurveda, Yoga and India’s culture and heritage including an introduction to classical Indian Dance and Music have also been included. The diplomats will undertake several off-site visits including to International Solar Alliance, Dakshin- Global South Centre for Excellence, National Disaster Management Authority, Election Commission of India, Sangeet Natak Academy & Museum of Performing Arts, Rashtrapti Bhawan and Pradhanmantri Sanghralaya.
