The 70th Professional Course for Foreign Diplomats (PCFD) is being held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi from 13-31 March 2023. Fifty-two young diplomats from fifty-two countries are participating in this programme.
The PCFD, which started in 1992, is the flagship programme of SSIFS for training of foreign diplomats. It is held twice a year. One of the core principles of India’s Foreign Policy has been to work towards building a peaceful, secure and stable world, particularly through forging mutually beneficial relationships with countries from across the world. The PCFD affirms the commitment of India to its partner countries in sharing knowledge and expertise acquired in the field of diplomats’ training.
The PCFD would include the training modules on various topics including India’s foreign policy, key international issues, multilateral diplomacy and diplomatic skills. There would also be sessions on Ayurveda and Yoga. The participants would get an exposure to modern India’s economic and technological developments. They would also undertake study tours both within and outside Delhi to experience the rich cultural heritage of India.
